Marc Fletcher Interview 2008
Q. So how did you come to write Adam Zero? Well obviously it has been in my family for years. Grandad did such a great job with it and everyone in the family has always read the stories and been very proud of what he accomplished.
Q. I would guess then that he is big writing influence on you? He had a great deal of influence on me. But my mom who is also a writer (USA Today Bestseller) Donna Fletcher is also a writer and she has been correcting my horrible grammar since I was kid. You’d think it would drive a kid mad to have his mom keep writing over his stories in red ink. But it actually helped a lot, you know except for the nightmares and cold sweats I get. So both had a great affect on me. I also love the work of Alan Moore, Stan Lee, Stephen King, Mark twain and so many more I can’t even make a proper list. Q. So what made you decide to start writing Adam Zero? Well we had so many people approach us to bring it back and it just never felt right. So I just started doing it on my own. The family gave the big thumbs up and away I went. Q. We’ve seen a few of the old villains return a chance any others will as well? Well we already got Creed and Prof. Plague and in the upcoming issues you’ll see Xero and Datok. Also a couple of more obscure characters will be returning. And a bunch of new ones will be peppered in as well. Q. Any chance of seeing classics like “The End!” from Adam Zero #78? We’ve talked a lot about that but we’ll have to see how things play out. I love the old pulp stories and we'll use a few of them with modern twists. Also we’re going to be reprinting the old pulps under a deal we just made with Raygun Press. We’re very excited to be able to offer the stories as E-books and hope to have a date on when that’ll happen soon. Q. Will the old comics be reprinted as well? We’re working on that also. You might even see one or two pop up as backups in the comic. Q. Anymore Marshal Tyme stories planned? Well the good lawman will be in issue #3 and we have a couple of more for him after that. But we’ll be introducing a new backup in issue four “The Black Heron”. But don’t worry Marshal Tyme is just getting a break, he’ll be back. You’ll even see my good buddy Tony Lee writing a story for him. Q. Any chance of a crossover between the Marshal and Adam Zero? Not at the moment though there is one character that may crossover but he hasn’t shown up just yet. You also may seem some crossovers with other Ronin Studios characters. Q. So what else are you working on now? I have a historic graphic novel I am plotting out and am working on a short with Kong about a misunderstood superhero. Q. Are you reading any comics now? If so which ones? Invincible, Shark-Man, Fear Agent. Also killing all the Vince Flynn books I can find. I miss prose writing and fully intend to get back to it. Q. So what character would you most like to write and why? Spider-Man childhood dream, also the Fantastic Four as I think most writers horribly misuse them. Oh and Doctor Who and hmmmmmm Sherlock Holmes and oh god I could go on for hours. Q. Last thing will we also see the return of Professor Strange? Yes Quick hits?
Marvel or DC? Marvel Invisible Woman or Wonder Woman? Wonder Woman Who’s stronger Superman or Hulk? Hulk Trust me don’t make him angry Clark. Star Wars or Star Trek? Star Wars ( though I’m interested to see the new Trek) Batman or Superman? Batman Aliens or Alien? Aliens Kirby Surfer or Mobius Surfer? Really honestly do people ever choose anything other then Kirby. All images and characters copyright Marc J Fletcher. Web layout copyright senkouryu.net. |
