Interview with Rodrigo Ramos Rodolfo artist for Adam Zero issues 2-4. And we'll be trying to get him to do many more!

Q. So what is your art background?

I’m a licensed Architect.

Q. Who are some of your art influences?

There are so many great artists out there but one name that comes to mind is Gustave Doré. I think he has is very impressive. On comics I like Ivan Reis, Mike Deodato, Luke Ross, Alex Ross, Kent Williams, Dave Mckean, John Muth, Moebius….On Architecture: Mies van der Rohe, Le Corbusier, Frank Lloyd W., and of course Oscar Niemeyer J

Q. And how did you start working on Adam Zero?

I believe it was Marc who contacted me on Ronin Studios Forum.

I liked the character, the script and thought this could be a great opportunity.

Q. You’ve done two issues and are working on a third of those which has been your favorite?

I’ve got to say the one I’m working on now. And the next one will be even better.

Q. Which of the villains did you most enjoy working on and why?

Professor Plague, because it was a challenge to create this characters look… He’s a Professor, an intelligent man but mean and dissimulated. After some research I remembered a book of Will Eisners that explains that using animals as reference to create characters can help you to define their personalities, so I used a snake for Prof. Plague.

Q. Your action scenes are very gritty and real, how do you try to show such energy?

Studying anatomy and movement I think is the first step. Watching real people in real situations and then trying to reproduce that image is a good exercise. Also taking photos as references is a good way to understand how the body works.

Q. So who is your favorite character in the series and why?

Kitana, because she is the faithful friend of Adam.

Q. Any plans on doing more Adam Zero?

Yes, definitely! with Marc’s permission of course.

Q. So what else are you working on now?

It’s now available on Indy Planet:  Sequential Suicide: SLOP

Coming soon:

Q. Are you reading any comics now? If so which ones?

I’m not fallowing any stories right now, only scripts.

Q. So what character would you most like to illustrate and why?

I think it’s the dream of every artist to draw the most famous characters like the ones on justice league, the avengers and so on…
