In January of 1934 the
world was introduced to Adam Zero in the pages of Professor
Strange, Master of the Occult. That first story was titled Adam Zero
and the Ghost Ship. A Mixture of Science Fiction and Horror blended the story
nicely with main attraction of Professor Strange. The story was
a hit and soon Adam was appearing in his own magazine. Adam soon proved popular enough to be spun off into his own magazine. Adam Zero Magazine ran for over ten years and was written by Mr. Fletcher for almost the entire run. Although several stories in the late 1940's were written by special guest writers. Back-up stories always ran in the magazine with Professor Strange occasionally turning up in a back-up story. Not all stories were science fiction. They ranged from Adventure to western. Pulp Magazines derived their name from the cheap pulp wood that was used to make the paper they were printed on. Numerous writers cut their teeth in this burgeoning field.
